Tom Butwin
As a four-time Detroit Music Award nominee, Singer/Songwriter/Guitarist Tom Butwin is fresh off of a Spring 2017 run starring as “Jesus” in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit musical, “Jesus Christ Superstar.” Since 2003, Tom has released four full-length albums, the most recent being 2016’s collection of classic musical theater songs, A Different Stage. Also in 2016, Tom embarked on an ambitious project called #52Covers through which he released a new cover song each week to his YouTube Channel.
Tom has shared the stage with such notable artists as Ernie Halter, Steve Moakler, Seth Glier, and Emily Hearn. He has also played notable venues such as NYC’s Rockwood Music Hall, The Fillmore Detroit, The Ark in Ann Arbor, MI, and Seven Steps Up in Spring Lake, MI, while being prominently featured on WDET’s Ann Delisi’s “Essential Music” & Rob Reinhart’s “Essential Music,” as well as on Ann Arbor’s 107 One. Tom’s television appearances include a 2017 Feature on PBS’s “Detroit Performs Live” and multiple performances on WJBK FOX 2 Detroit, WDIV Local 4, WXYZ Channel 7, and WZZM 13 Grand Rapids.
With his full band and acoustic duo performances, Tom Butwin is quickly becoming a Michigan festival staple after performances at the 2008, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2016, & 2017 Ford Arts, Beats, & Eats festivals, 2013, 2014, 2015, & 2016 Ann Arbor Summer Festivals, 2013 Ann Arbor Art Fair, 2013 & 2014 Detroit River Days Festival, and his stand-out showing on the main stage and secondary stage at the 2009 Rothbury Music Festival alongside Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, & the Grateful Dead.
