Rod Batayeh
Rod Batayeh is a professional drummer
& percussionist from the greater Detroit
area. Rod is an influential & popular
member of the local music scene. He has
also made some waves nationally. Rod
began his drumming career at the age
of 15 by touring the country, performing
at weddings & fundraisers with several
Arabic artists.
At the age of 20, Rod decided to give
Rock & Roll/Alternative music a try with
the band Daddy Stitch 1993-1998. In that
project Rod had the pleasure of touring
& sharing the stage with Detroit greats
Alice Cooper & Ted Nugent. That project
was handled by Douglas Banker at
Madhouse Management (Ted Nugent’s
management company). With that
project, Rod was produced by another
Detroit legend Michael Lutz (bassist for
Brownsville Station), & the CD “Hey You”
was released in 1997.
After that had run its course, Rod began
the “hired gun” phase of his career.
Performing & recording with a slew of
local artists from ’98-’04, including the
bands Scattercat, Skin, The Reefermen,
& Euthanasia, to name a few. In 2004,
Rod was offered a position with
Psychopathic Records’ own Zug Izland.
The touring was extensive. Zug Izland
was the main support for recording
artists Sponge and Tech 9. Rod also
recorded with Zug Izland and appears
on the track “Addicted” from Axe &
Smash Records.
In 2010, Rod made the leap from rock to
country music. Rod was offered the
Driver’s Seat with country artist Jo
Caine. With Jo Caine, Rod has shared
the stage with Bret Michaels and Rehab.
