Ten years in the making, Drew

Machak has turned himself into

a multi-instrumentalist who

 incorporates looping, on the fly

 harmonizing, plus a wide range of

 covers and originals. From Stevie

 Wonder, Jose Feliciano, & The

Doors to Sam Smith, Jack Johnson,

 & Pharrell Williams.

 

Drew keeps a pretty low profile but

 is a regular performer in downtown

 Detroit, Royal Oak, and Birmingham.

 His original music is heading in the

 direction of Michigan-summertime-

good-feels – if that makes any

sense! Giving people a sound that is

 soothing and uplifting is the goal,

 whereas his previous albums were

 more based in the

singer-songwriter category with

 dramatic elements like strings,

horns, and introspective lyrics.

Now 26, Machak realizes that his job

 as a musician is actually about

making people forget about their

 worries, which is something you can

 see take place in the crowd now

 when you come to hear him sing.
