Alyssa Simmons
An enchanting persona fused with explosive stage presence & the ability to flat out own it, Alyssa Simmons is a
singer-songwriter & music addict from the outskirts of Detroit. Old school rock n’ roll intertwined with catchy pop
melodies & a voice that sounds like she quite literally has Motown in her veins, there’s no question Alyssa holds her own. Simmons has grabbed the attention of Industry heavy hitters like Atlantic Records, EMI, Disney & Trans Siberian Orchestra.
She has spent the past year fronting Detroit’s hottest party band “Killer Flamingos,” taking on an extensive performance schedule that allowed her to hone her skills & focus on writing. Alyssa has been in the studio with producer Andy Patalan
of ATP Productions & The Loft finishing her 4th CD Now or Never due out the beginning of Summer 2014.
This blonde powerhouse is not someone who just decided that she wanted to be a singer. She has been honing her
skills since the early age of 9. Watching music videos over normal kid shows & it was at that young age the Simmons
family knew they had some kind of magic on their hands. Alyssa began studying voice which led to local talent shows,
recitals & competitions. By the age of 12, Simmons had already opened for big named acts like Randy Travis, Diamond Rio
& The Smothers Brothers. She was then invited to travel to NYC to perform at the historic Apollo Theatre as a “Showtime Kid.”
At 13, she was titled “Detroit’s Super Singer” after winning Detroit’s biggest singing competition on WDIV. At 14, Alyssa was invited to be apart of the national cast for Des Moines, Iowa’s Variety Kids Telethon, where she had the chance to sing
with the legendary Paul Yarrow of Peter Paul & Mary.
Songwriting became Alyssa’s escape & muse, giving her the opportunity to travel to Maryland to record her first
original CD Difficult with her idol Eva Cassidy’s producers Chris Biondo & Lenny Williams. Simmons talent began
grabbing the attention of some major industry players. It started with Disney flying her out to California to audition
for a new show that eventually became known as Hanna Montana. That lead to additional opportunities in front of EMI Publishing, Trans Siberian Orchestra, Atlantic Records, opening for Collective Soul, Leanne Rimes & Daryl McDaniels of Run DMC respectfully to name a few.
“Music is the one thing that’s always made perfect sense to me,” said Simmons. “It will always be apart of who I am.
I have learned from every heartbreak & curveball this business has thrown at me. It’s given me the opportunity to grow
& to find myself in process. I know I have what it takes to sustain.”
With nothing but open skies for the future, Alyssa has a lot in store for this upcoming year. Prepare yourselves,
because we are all in for the ride of our lives.
